Developing a simulator and  flying the B737 correctly requires a considerable amount of knowledge, especially in relation to Boeing systems.  The following texts have been very helpful in unravelling the complexities of the Boeing system and in learning to fly the B738.

You will note that not all the monographs are high-end technical manuals.  Knowing the "tech" details is very good, but you also must know how to fly.  So many simmers do not know basic airmanship and wonder why they cannot hand fly the B738 or any other aircraft once the automation is turned off.

Learn to fly the Cessna first.  Learn and become confident flying without automation. Learn how to navigate without the CDU using VORS and NDBS.  Learn various approaches other then auto land and ILS. Then, once you are reasonably confident, move on and learn the B738.  The task of flying and understanding the interrelationships between complex systems is so much easier when you have a solid foundation in the  basic principles of flight and navigation.  It allows you think outside the square to the reason why something is happening, rather than just sitting there without a clue...
